JOB DESCRIPTION

A scaffold erector is responsible for the set up and dismantle of temporary scaffolding so that contractors can access specific portions of a building to perform their desired work. A scaffold erector is required to work as a member of an erection/dismantling crew and sometimes alone as part of an assisted build. A scaffold erector will build and dismantle scaffolds in accordance with company policies and OSHA standards.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Include the following. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned at later date.

  • Rigging equipment in accordance with common practices and OSHA standards
  • Build scaffold properly and in accordance with common practices and OSHA standards
  • Inspect rigging and scaffold systems to make sure the system is working properly
  • Operate forklift and hoisting equipment
  • Safely and effectively supply material to team members in a logical and organized fashion which includes anticipating the next step
  • Load and unload equipment to and from project sites in a safe and orderly fashion
  • Adhere to safe work practices and procedures so that the job site is free of potential hazards
  • Take corrective action if potential hazards arise so that you and your team are safe from injury
  • Maintain good housekeeping on project sites and cleanup site at end of each day
  • Communicate efficiently and respectfully with customers, project managers, and fellow employees

GENERAL PURPOSE


Repairs and maintains small engine equipment, both gas and diesel. Maintains equipment inventory and equipment maintenance records. In addition to working on small engine equipment, must assist inside/outside sales team with other duties around the store.


EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

  • Responsible for maintenance and repair of small engines, both gas and diesel, including hydraulic equipment.
    • Equipment to be worked on includes (but not limited to): lawn mowers, trimmers, masonry & concrete equipment, small engines (Honda, Briggs & Stratton, Kohler, and others), generators, and more.
  • Communicate with customers and vendors regarding rental, sales, purchase orders, repairs, etc.
  • Responsible for sharpening all types of mowers.
  • Assists in the maintenance, repair and operation of forklifts.
  • Operates all vehicles & equipment used at the facility when needed.
  • Performs preventative maintenance work, such as checking oil and fluid levels on all equipment.
  • Maintains inventory records on repairs made, parts ordered, and parts inventory.
  • Assists inside/outside sales with rental/sales made at the store, including but not limited to: loading/unloading scaffolding, mast climbers, inbound/outbound shipments, and more.
  • Learn our inventory management system and be able to perform duties such as: repair/work orders, purchase orders, rental/sales contracts, and more.
  • Keeps vehicle records and assists management with vehicle maintenance when needed.
  • Performs other duties as required.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

  • Graduation from a standard high school and two (2) years’ work experience in the operation, repair and maintenance of small equipment, both diesel and gasoline type engines and hydraulic equipment.


Special Requirements

  • Must possess a valid Georgia Driver’s License.
  • Must be willing to work weekends and holidays when necessary.
    Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Thorough knowledge of small engines, to include hydraulics, and both gas and diesel equipment.
  • Working knowledge of safety practices and procedures while making mechanical repairs.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair equipment with accuracy and speed, ability to create effective working relationships with employees; ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to maintain written/typed equipment maintenance records.


TOOLS & EQUIPMENT USED

  • Hand tools, drill, torch, grinders, saws, masonry & concrete equipment, forklifts (telehandlers), pick-up trucks, and others.
