The team at Trowel Trades incorporated, in Suwanee Georgia, has been selling Mortar mixers since early 1990. In that time we have seen trends come and go. Manufactures pop up and go away. The designs have changed significantly as well as remained the same. So the idea of this series “A history of the modern Mortar Mixer” came about during one of our Monday morning meetings. The topic of all the mixer brands we have sold, rented, serviced and repaired over the years and what happened to the brands that were and are marquees of our industry. The short discussion turned into such a long conversation that we decided a series on our blog would be a great idea. I hazard to guess that Trowel Trades has sold or rebuilt all of the mixers manufactured under our definition of the modern mixer at one time or another.
Our hopes for this series is that it will take a few people on a trip down memory lane while also serving as a reference set for those looking for information about the old mixer they are attempting to get parts for and repair. We will include as much history and industry insider information as we can along with articles we have published in the trade publications such as Masonry Magazine. A major resource for the series will be our own data archive from as early as 1992 when we started scanning all our paperwork. Within these archives we have invoices that will help us in dating models as well as their model numbers. We also have promo materials from manufacturers who are long gone. We know that this topic is not as hot as the latest iPhone or Benchmade knife but we feel that many of or readers will learn something new and find some of the behind the scenes interesting.
We invite you to leave comments and questions below. If you have a question you want answered or a topic covered we will do our best to make it happen. To keep up with the articles please follow us on linkedin, twitter, facebook or tumbler or just check our blog here.
Part 1 “What’s NEW in Mortar Mixers (1997 Edition)” will be released Monday June 4, 2018 and subsequent articles in this series will post on Mondays after that.
We hope you find this series informative as well as informational.
