Labor day is right around the corner and Mike Rowe of Dirty Jobs has teamed up with Wolverine boots to celebrate and support those of us in the trades. The partnership has launched the mikeroweWORKS 1000 mile boot to support the mikeroweWORKS Foundation.
Today through 4 September 2018 all the proceedes, 100%, will go to the nonprofit that supports skilled trades and attempts to close the skills gap.
The men’s style is an update to the brand’s legendary 1000 Mile style launched in 1914. It is detailed with red, white and blue stitching on the backstay. These boots are made in the U.S. and feature durable Goodyear welt construction that can be resoled.
“The skills gap is real,” said Rowe, “and it’s getting wider every year. Our country is facing a growing shortage of skilled tradespeople, and mikeroweWorks is committed to helping more people get the necessary training to fill the many positions that are currently vacant.”
Andrew Shripka, VP of marketing for Wolverine adds, “Mike Rowe is a true champion for those in the skilled labor field and is a natural partner for this limited-edition 1000 Mile boot.
Wolverins has donated over $100,000 to the mikeroweWORKS Foundation Work Ethic Scholarship Program over the last two years, as well as rewarded every scholarship recipient a pair of Wolverine boots to kick off his or her career. The foundation has granted, or helped facilitate the granting of, more than $2.5 million in Work Ethic Scholarships over the last five years.
“Wolverine exists to support people who forge their own path, and our relationship with the mikeroweWORKS Foundation highlights our commitment to skilled workers who stop at nothing to build the future they want,” says Andrew Shripka, vice president of marketing for Wolverine brand. “Mike Rowe is a true champion for those in the skilled labor field and is a natural partner for this limited-edition 1000 Mile boot.”
I have a pair of the original Wolverine 1000 miles boots and have worn them daily for several years. They are the widest work boot I could get that is re-soleable to fit my 4E feet. The price is higher but the life you get from these boots averages out in your favor.
